June 2021 - DLXtreme Product Specifications Released

Publish Date: June 2021

The new DLXtreme (DLX) range are “Smart”, very high intensity, liquid cooled1)  line lights with integral current control and high accuracy timing capability with multi-wavelength capability.  They have been designed to leverage more potential from the new range of faster and more sophisticated line scan cameras now coming onto the markte.

They supercede the previous VLX2/VLX2+ range with added functionality at a better value point.

Main product highlights: -

  • Liquid cooled for maximum output levels 24/7 whilst ensuring longer product life than air-cooled lights
  • Built in LED current control with remote control via RS232 serial or Wireless Ethernet (optional)
  • Built in FPGA based timing control for low jitter (<10nS) control of light and connected camera with configurable 2 x trigger inputs and 2 x trigger outputs.  Typical applications: High frequency strobing, Mutli-spectral line interlaced imaging, RGB/NIR interlacing, White/NIR intensity balancing, hardware protected overdrive modes, etc
  • Built in temperature monitoring with over-temperature shutdown and other diagnostic information available remotely
  • Standard lengths in 300mm increments from 300mm - 2100mm.  Longer lengths up to 5.1m on request
  • Field bootloadable firmware for easy functional capability changes if required

Three families of light will be available with increasing performance levels: -

  • DLX-X1 - Standard single Line colour/wavelength
  • DLX-X2 - Up to two interlaced colours/wavelength
  • DLX-X4 - Up to four interlaced colours/wavelength - to follow in Q3/Q4 2021

Standard focussing optic is a 32mm glass lens which is both robust and also transmits UV with little loss if required.  This gives a working distance of around 100mm.

A suite of standard hardware configuration modes will be available to address commonly required control strategies e.g. 2, 3 or 4 wavelength interlacing, pulse width control, hardware protected overdrive modes, etc

A full datasheet will be released in the next couple of weeks and a new web page will feature the new DLX range and its family members.
